Common MRP Pulley Applications

Multi-ribbed pulleys or V-Ribbed Belt Drive is composed of a single belt with a longitudinally ribbed traction surface which engages and grips, by friction, pulley grooves of similar shape so that the belt ribbed surface fits the pulley grooves to make substantially total contact.  A durable and long-life pulley and belt solution. MRPs are a popular pulley solution across a wide range of applications and industries.

MRP pulleys can be found in a variety of applications. Often, MRP pulleys are used for automation purposes or for applications where long service life are a must. Applications like mobility lifts and medical equipment often make use of MRP pulley mechanisms specifically for their longevity.

A high-speed ratio and increased horsepower make these pulleys attractive solutions for applications like agricultural mechanization, high-speed machine tools, and compressors.

MRP pulley drives operate very quietly and with almost no vibration. This makes them ideal for commercial applications where noise levels are an important specification. This makes MRP pulleys ideal for commercial uses like fans, dryers, microwave ovens, office equipment, mixers, atomizers, and even display components.

Other common applications include pumps, chair lifts, polishers, exercise equipment, and more.

Non-Standard Options

MRP pulleys are versatile and, as we discussed above, can be found fulfilling many different roles in a large variety of settings. It is surprising when a standard MRP cannot always fulfill every application specification or need. Sometimes the best solution is to create a non-standard option for a specific application.

Non-standard pulleys can seem daunting. After all, non-standard often means custom tooling and manufacturing, which in turn means extra expenses and long lead times.

Luckily, we utilize a style of manufacturing that allows us to create non-standard parts quickly, efficiently, and inexpensively.  We even offer full design and prototyping services for non-standard parts! You can learn more about our production process here!
